Over the past few months Lea House has been trialing the introduction of pets for therapy purposes in the home. Teaming up with the national charity Pets As Therapy, the residents have had the opportunity to meet and get to know Sally the dog and Beethoven the cat.

Research continues to validate the psychological benefits pet assisted therapy brings to those of us in need of a little extra boost in addition to medical skills and nursing care. And it is thanks to Sheila, the Pets As Therapy volunteer, that Lea House is able to benefit from this fantastic service.

"We are very lucky to have found Sheila, and due to the positive responses from our residents, we are now looking to make Sheila, Sally & Beethoven's visits a regular occurrence here at Lea" said our manager Elaine Stonelake.
